Project Description:

System B is non-profit organization with the mission of strengthening B-corps all over the world. B-corps seek to create individuals’ wellbeing and value for nature and society. The alliance between B-corps and SEKN seek to create pedagogical contents that will stimulate discussion around the concept and business models of benefit corporations among management students.

The production of a series of pedagogical cases based on B-corps has three main Objectives:

  1. Showcase the business model of a new breed of company, which puts on the same level the impact of business decisions on the environment, communities, workers and shareholders.
  2. Develop pedagogic materials on B-corps to be used in undergrad and post-grad management courses.
  3. Strengthen the B-corps Movement at the global level

The project will undergo 3 major phases:

  1. Open call for case proposals, widely distributed among Latin American B-schools, and selection of the the best 5 proposals.
  1. Production of five teaching cases, each with its own teaching note, through two layers of double blind review.
  2. Postproduction (proof-reading, translation, graphic layout) and publication of the 5 cases on page Harvard Business Publishing’s webpage.

The project started back September 2016, with an open call to present proposals for teaching cases, geared towards all Latin American Business Schools. The announcement was widely distributed through the web pages of CLADEA (the Latin American Council of Administration Schools), SEKN ((Social Enterprise Knowledge Network) and the CBCC (CLADEA-BALAS Case Consortium) members, among others. The entire project is estimated to have a duration of 2 years, including= the 2 stages of double blind review, and the postproduction of pedagogical cases and notes, prior to their publication in HBP.

This project is expected to produce between 5 and 8 high-quality teaching cases based on B-corp organizations. It is hoped that this initiative will generate students’ interest in the concept of B-crops, and eventually strengthen the global network of B-corps.
